Counting

Counting

Why 100 hearts? Declaring a definite goal sets important boundaries. Repeating the practice creates a pattern, a rhythm, an active meditation. Counting , keeping score, running a tally, become sources of clear, immediate feedback like counting prayer beads on a mala or rosary.

Where to begin? It is all about change. What can you change to make one heart different from the next? You can change the size, shape, or color. Make it an outline or fill it in Make it lighter or darker, and on and on. Timed exercises force you to think fast or not think at all, just draw.

“There is more power in numbers than we ever hoped to dream about! We are the bearers of a new vision. We can dispel the old destructive myths and replace them with the life-enriching truths that are essential to continued life on our planet.” Ken Keyes, Jr.

Choose Creativity

Creativity is our birthright. We come into life with an innate desire to create, but we can all remember when someone, a teacher , a parent or another trusted person criticized our attempts. That may have been all it took to shake our confidence in our ability and stop us from exploring and experimentation. You may still hear those voices in your head whenever you tell yourself something like, "I can't draw a straight line." By choosing more positive messages you can change your relationship to your natural creative nature.

You can choose to nurture your creative heart and support your abilities so that they blossom and bloom. There are definite, structured steps you can take to achieve a more positive environment for growth. We will explore ideas, exercises and experiences you will enjoy and use to create.

This is my new blog devoted to ART TALK!! I will be posting tips on everything I know about art and creativity and having fun juicing up your life through art. I will bring in other artists to add to the mix with interviews, guest posts and more. I want to dedicate this to the visual arts because we need a space reserved for this.
